Dear Lebanese Neighbors..

I’m reading your comments about this terrible war going on..and my heart is crying for you..
I can deeply understand what you are going threw.. I can imagine exactly how is it like to be in a war..to live under missiles attacks, to leave in fear, to mourn for a close friend or a relative who was killed in the war, even though he didn’t take part in the war...to live with no running water, electricity turning of frequently, sleep in a shelter with many other people, in the heat and humidity, hardly getting food for several days..
Since, I have passed it all as well, and I am not that old, only 35 years old. I know exatly what do you going threw right now.
I have passed it in the golf war, while saddam (with his own reasons) decided to fire missiles all the way from Iraq into a country he had never visited and met the kind of people living here..(that time it was even harder being in the shelter because I was covered with a frightening mask against a possible chemical missiles attach..)
I am feeling for you, dear Lebanese neighbors, since I know exactly what you are going threw..Beacuse I’m going threw the same, here and now, in Israel, just like you do.
I am not a politician, and this is the first time for me to write to you.
I would like to tell you that I was a student until not long ago, lucky to study in France on a student exchange program..meeting there many Lebanese who became to be my best friends over there.. and I guess I know why..Beacuse we had more in common then with any other nationality..having same Falafel (still urging where is there origin whether in Israel or Lebanon) eating same Labaneh and thinking in the same way about many things and issues..
I am sorry for your suffer at this war..
But let me end this mail by telling just a bit of what I think about the Hezbollah and its supporters front Syria and Iran:
They won’t let peace in the Middle East, it is out of their agenda..They are here with their fundamentalist governments and believes to get us (Israelis) out of here..
But...sorry to say, we, my family and friends have no plans to leave, because of a simple reason, we have no place where to go to, since when my grandmother, who was living here childhood in Europe was running for here life, living her family behind to be murdered by the Nazis,  explained me, that a Jewish state is a must, and if it was decided to be in Israel, this is the land that we, as Jews, should keep faithfully and fearlessly, even if we will have to sacrifices our lives for living here as a free nation..simple as that..
So, ending my letter, I can find a solution only if Iran, Syria and their extensions such as Hezbollah on our northern border and Hamas on our southern border will realize that Israel is here to exist as a Jewish country, and all the region including them (Syria and Iran) and of course the Palestinians and you the Lebanese can gain from it much, for modest reasons such as:
Good neighbor relationship
Similar culture and music
Similar food (such as falafel and labaneh)
High technology knowledge we can share (my specialty is Internet and High tech, like many of my friends)
Good pubs and disco places
Nice whether (i guess similar to the whether in your place)
And free borders to pass threw Europe to Africa (since Israel is just right in the middle to make you, Lebanese, come over, by car, threw Israel to visit Jordan Egypt and the rest of Africa, and we, Israelis, coming threw your country, Lebanon, by car, saving flight ticket, enjoying an incredible trip, threw your county, into Turkey and to rest of Europe (and maybe one day, threw Syria, to Iran and Iraq (which is where my Father was born...yes I am half Iraqi and Half Hungarian.. you see what the Hollocost cause, it cause 2 people like my father, escaping from Iraq to Israel, while he was seven years old to meet my mother who where born the same day like Israel 1948, after her mither was running from the Nazis in Europe.. still you can see the number The Natzis burnd on her arm while she was in the most terrifying ghetto “Aushvitz” in Germany..)
May the way to find peace will be find. May god will be with all of us for preventing war world no. 3 to happen, this time, the worst time, involving nuclear weapons of mass destruction for making chaos all around the Middle East....
Bless You, Lebanese neighbors and Friends.

Dear Shahar,

Many questions are popping up in my mind after after reading your letter.
It is a nice letter, I can feel you poured your soul in it.
Maybe my main question is: you say that the Jewish state is a must, otherwise you all Israeli Jews do not know where else to go.

Does this mean that there is no room for the Israeli Arabs in Israel?

Does Israel really need to be a Jew state for ever? Isn´t perhaps this view part of the
problem that has been transforming your country in a sort of open air military
area, surrounded by checkpoints and armoured cars patrolling the borders?

Isn´t this view of a Jew State, which is to be maintained no matter the implications and the consequences - both for the Israeli Jews, the Palestinians, and, in this
case, the Lebanese - constantly fueling the fears of many Israely Jews of losing what they have and invoking memories of the Holocaust and centuries of persecution?

Before concluding, I want to clear on one point: I do not question the existence of Israel, not even for a second!
I wonder instead how Israel can represent all their citizens, including the non Jews, if it must be Jew.

If we could only imagine a world without war. I'm too sick of all that's happening in the Middle East. I'm Iranian and I too went through a war imposed on us by Saddam Hussein while US was profiting from selling weapons to both Iran and Iraq. Why we allow other countries to play us for their profit is beyond me. It's all about oil and rich people getting richer. Toward the end of Iran and Iraq war I came to US. My professor was from Iraq and we became the best of friends. He changed my life to the point that I pursued my Ph.D. I also have many Jewish friends that I adore and feel very close to them. Tell me why we allow this to happen? If we as people can get along so well, why our governments can't. I blame US foreign policy and our lack of education. I can't bare this hostility. I cry every time I read about Lebanon and Iraq or see a picture. How we can tell US to get the hell out of our countries and stay out of our business.

Thanks for your message Shahar. Nasrallah has said that he wants you DEAD. D-E-A-D. You and all of the Jews. I kid you not. When the Lebanese people clue in to what a psychopathic fascist he is and how he has brought all this down on Lebanon they will hang him from the tree and spit on his corpse.

Good luck to you.

excuse me mister brendan but may i ask where did u hear that? do u even understand arabic? for ur information Nasrallah has said that he would only keep bombing israel if israel kept bombing lebanon. he is a reaction not an action. And please before making false accusations... Ariel Sharon; Ehud Olmert; George Bush, are the ones that need to be hung from a tree. And excuse me but the idea of having a state for the jews ONLY is not fascist? and how can u call him psychopathic? do u kno anything about him other than what your beloved CNN and your media tells u? a "terrorist" yes im sure for defendin a country that has no artillery or army; for defending lebanese from israelis who are Butchering 1000 of palestinians daily.. oh yes ur right brendan im sory...By the way she wasnt adressing her comment to you so please refrain from poking your noses in other peoples business and convince your country to do the same, and please -see im nice- do not ever talk about my people and I as if you are more important do not belittle us. Cuz for ur information we have created almost everything in the world including the alphabet which u wouldnt be able to say all that nonsense u just said without; the point is you are clueless becuz u have no idea what is going on in our country who Nasrallah is; you just read and watch the news u understand the one your media twists and makes it look like arabs are terrorists. Your country is what might bring the world to an end someday and u know it.
